The Fremont Theater, Northeast Portland’s newest music venue, opened its doors in October 2016. The theater, at 2393 NE Fremont St, can accommodate an audience of up to 120 people and is fast becoming a popular spot for jazz, folk, rock, pop, and other musical performances.

Portland musician Mary-Sue Tobin was one of the first to perform at the Fremont when it opened, with her band, the MSQuintet. In January 2017, we’ll be treated to four Thursdays in a row that have been curated by and include Mary Sue Tobin as a performer.

All performances will be from 8-11pm, with doors at 7:30. Cover: $7

Thursday, January 26: MSQuintet

The MSQuintet is led by saxophonist Mary-Sue Tobin (The Quadraphonnes, PJCE, Rebirth of the Cool and others), an esteemed member of the Portland jazz community. Active in many musical projects as a performer and band-leader, Mary-Sue is excited to introduce the latest version of the MSQuintet, featuring some of the original members as well as a couple of new additions. The MSQuintent, in its current form, will perform both original arrangements as well as standards in the style of Benny Golson, Cannoball Adderly, Dexter Gordon and other Hard Bop greats.
