David Watson’s Re-Birthing The Cool: Bebop N Beyond, plays the original music of ‘The Birth Of The Cool’ written by Gerry Mulligan, Miles Davis/Gil Evans, Chet Baker, Dave Pell and Bill Holman plus the hip arrangements of Pete Petersen and originals by David Watson.

During the intermission, there will be a special presentation of “Masters of Jazz: David Watson,” an interview with Doctor Bebop himself. It covers his life and career leading up to this point, and it also looks to the future, both for him and for young jazz musicians. It is the first in what is to be a series of interviews and performances documented by the Northwest Jazz and Blues Project, spearheaded by photographer Steve Anchell.
