Join us for a night of great music. Ryan Meagher (pronounced Marr) is a jazz guitarist and composer in Portland. Along with releasing his fourth record Tango In the City of Roses, he has been instrumental in expanding the scene. He is a co-founder and Programming Director of the Montavilla Jazz Festival, Director of Operations of the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble, Director of PJCE Records, Director of Portland State University's The Shed Summer Jazz Workshop, Editor of the Jazzscene Magazine, Marketing and Advertising Consultant for the Oregon Coast Jazz Party, and was interim Director of Jazz Studies at Mt. Hood Community College before taking his vision to the Lower Columbia College Jazz Ensemble. His fifth album as a leader is called Mist. Moss. Home.
Covering a variety of musical styles from jazz-funk-pop, to avant-garde, gypsy punk and classical, the Quadraphonnes break the boundaries of the saxophone quartet. Mary-Sue Tobin, Chelsea Luker, Mieke Bruggeman, and Michelle Medler have played together for over a decade, releasing two albums and performing at numerous venues and jazz festivals in the Pacific Northwest. These multi-talented musicians combine forces to create a powerful harmonic voice, while each player is a stand out on their own. They make for an intense and intimate quartet, or get a little more rocking as a full band with rhythm section. Not limited to instrumental repertoire, their sets are sprinkled with compelling vocal-driven tunes. The fact that the group’s core contains an all-female line up may be something to celebrate, but the main attraction here is the musicianship and passion generated in their performance.
