Expect deep roots rock, a multi-genre mix of styles with Americana, R&B, country, blues and jazz with songs that touch the heart of anybody who’s ever raised a little hell on a Saturday night, or felt the pangs of a love gone bad. John Bunzow — singer, songwriter, guitarist (Cowboy Angels, X-Angels, Ex Nashville Cats) — “brings to mind songwriters and artists like Steve Earle, John Hiatt, or Dave Alvin,” raved the late Cascade Blues Association President Greg Johnson.
The band features a high-powered crew of veteran Northwest musicians: bassist Denny Bixby (Oregon Music Hall of Fame, Rodney Crowell, Nancy Griffith, Buddy Miller, Chet Atkins, Jon Koonce, Curtis Salgado, Lloyd Jones); multi-instrumentalist Paul Brainard, a veteran of the Alt-Country and Americana scene, who has toured and recorded with Alejandro Escovedo, Richmond Fountaine, and the Decemberists; and drummer Jeff Donavan (Dwight Yoakam, Paladins, John Fogerty).
Joining the group for the Waterfront appearance are special guests Louis Pain (Paul deLay, Lloyd Jones, Mel Brown, Linda Hornbuckle) on the Hammond B-3 organ, and Mary-Sue Tobin on saxophone (Dave Douglas, The Temptations, James Moody, Esperanza Spalding).
